Clear should partner with ESPN to bring live streaming sports to Clear customers.
While my service is good, it would be great if Clear parntered with ESPN so that Clear users could access live streaming sports on espn3.com. Please make this improvement Clear.

Here's my 2 cents - Comcast has espn3.com and that's because they own them. Time Warner Cable and its subsidiaries (earthlink excluded) have espn3.com access, and arn't also somehow part of the Comcast family. CLEAR is part owned by both Comcast and Time Warner, so why don't they offer what their "parents" offer? - Heck they could get a deal from Comcast!
Also, I don't understand how 4G marketed by Comcast and Time Warner Cable (operated on CLEAR's networks) dosen't have espn3.com - those customers are already paying a premium to Comcast or Time Warner Cable so why don't they get some of the features their home-bound counterparts do? -
I have absolutely no interest in espn3.com and don't want my rates with Clear to go up so people can access some website that charges the ISP instead of only the users that actually use it.
-
Clear needs to make this service happen. While many naysayers use higher connectivity charges as an reason not to include access to ESPN3, it is a service provided by other ISPs that have more consistent service quality AND prices that are competitive with Clear's pricing. Despite claims by many on this forum, including ESPN 3 will not make our rates go up. It will, however, bring a service that is quickly becoming standard among American ISPs.
-
Good grief Charlie Brown. Please don't waste money on some idiotic sports service. You are a data pipe. Let people find and pay for what they want to feed through that pipe on their own. I don't want to see rates going up because Clear has added a bunch of useless junk. If you have nothing better to do in life than follow sports, then bug ESPN to take your money as an individual. But don't ask me to pay for it because it has become part of Clear's offering. Bad idea.
-
Thank you for the idea. I will make sure this is looked into. Thanks again..
-
-
Every major internet provider in the Chicago area offers access to espn3.com, I would love it if I could access it through clear.
-
-
The World Cup is only 9 days away! Please make this happen! You're really gonna leave a vast majority of your customers out to dry - if it's a free service to everyone else - why can't Clear have it too?!?!!??!
-
Was really hoping to see some progress being made on this front - but it's still just 'under consideration'. I can't imagine the Clear big-whigs are using their own product - everyone is a sports fan - this is a necessity!!!
It should be a "work in progress" at this point! WORLD CUP STARTS TOMORROW MORNING!!!! -

I was looking to contact Clear about this very subject. WE WANT ESPN3!!!
-
-
I have already asked them about this, so I wish they would resolve this ASAP! Even the smaller ISP's partner with ESPN. Come on Clear how can you call yourself one of the best, if you can't stream live sports?

i just switched to go Clear from Cox Cable. I am very dissapointed to not be able to have Espn 3 on my internet streams. I miss Cox Cable for that reason.

I’m
Do not like what peole think what clear should d becase they think it is so inportant to them when it is not thant inportent for clear to do this they just need to expand the coverage area and the speed of the connecsions.
1Clear should not have to parner up with a tv stasion becase clear is an internet provider not a sports news provider-
It is not about partnering in the way you're thinking - ESPN3 is a website that allows streaming of live sports events. Almost all other ISPs are affiliated with ESPN3 and therefore their subscribers are able to watch games live. Clear unfortunately is not an affiliate - If Clear became an affiliate we could watch ESPN3. Currently it's blocked. Maybe you should keep your comments to yourself when you come to thread where the majority of people are for something.
-
-
-
-
-
It is not about Clear partnering up with a tv station. It is about Clear providing all the services of the internet that I have come to enjoy with Cox Cable. A prominent feature was the ability to stream ESPN 3 on my laptop. That feature has been taken away with Clear, without a good explanation or reasoning.
-
"That feature has been taken away with Clear, without a good explanation or reasoning."
No, ESPN3 actively blocks ISPs that do not pay them. If Clear wanted to give us access to ESPN3, they would have to pay. Most ISPs then charge more for their service to cover the cost - even to customers that don't use ESPN3.
I'd have no problem if Clear picked up ESPN3, but only if they charge just the people that use the site. If they raise my rates because of a single website I'd never use, that's wrong. -
-
this is not the case though. clear is not that competitive in pricing. there are internet providers that steam espn3 and are only available in one state. they also have cheaper plans. if you actually looked at the list of internet providers that steamed espn3 then you would know it has nothing to do with increasing the price.

Only 6 more days to the World Cup .... Come on Clear! Do the RIGHT thing!!! :)
-
-
It can't be hard to become an affiliate with espn3.com. Come on Clear, this would go a long way to making true on what you infer is possible in your advertising.
-
Does Clear "infer" that it offers ESPN 360? I don't think so.
In fact it's slogan is "All the Internet you'll ever need", a minimalist approach. -
-
-
-
-
I think it's worth remembering that this partnering is most likely an added cost to Clear. If there is a way to pass this cost to only those who want the espn service, then that would be great. Otherwise, I don't want to see clear going down the path of other ISPs that bundle premium services and become as much content providers as they are internet service providers.
Besides, there is no shortage of other ways to stream world cup soccer on the web if look around.-
I think it is worth remembering that ISPs that charge rates and offer services that similar to Clear's rates and services provide espn3.com access as a matter of course. Clear should do so to be competitive. This will not turn Clear into a content provider, but it will offer Clear subscribers access to valuable content.
-
-
I see both points. I hate it when ISPs try to funnel you into their "premium" and partnered content or try to push the sale of addons. However, ESPN3 is a massively popular source for content that is ONLY available through partnering ISPs. Since Clear's prices seem to be about the same as other ISPs in their competitive areas it would make sense for them to have access to such a standard and popular value-add.
That being said, ESPN3 is pretty much the only service with this kind of popularity. -
-

-
-
Sad to see the lack of progress on this.... sure, nothing happens overnight - but wouldn't it be nice if it did. I mean the world cup only happens every 4 years.... How did you not see this coming?
-
ESPN 360 is not the only way to watch the World Cup online.
Google "world cup online" and there are hundreds of options.
http://www.worldcupwatcher.com/ for example. -

As I posted on a similar question, I don't want Clear to subscribe to ESPN 360.
See http://forums.clear.com/clearcom/topi...
I like the lower cost and flexibility Clear provides.
ESPN costs money and eventually that cost is passed on to subscribers.
If you look ISPs who do offer EPSN 360, they often charge more than Clear and require you subscribe to additional service (like a landline or cable TV) to get the best rates.
I would rather save on my connection and choose what additional services I would like to subscribe to on my own.
Clear gives you freedom of choice.
You should be pressuring ESPN to open up to individual subscribers.- view 1 more comment
-
-
aldrich, you are assuming everybody would use ESPN. I already don't have satellite or cable TV, so Clear adding ESPN's service (in the way other ISPs have) would *cost* me money.
The concern is that the extra cost of ESPN would be applied to every Clear subscriber - even those who would never use it. I don't mind if Clear picks up the service, but only if it's not subsidized by charging every single subscriber. You want it, you pay for it - not me. -
-
This is a bad business position in my area. Given that you have to belong to a ISP that is an ESPN3 subscriber to get ESPN3, and in my area both major competitors to Clear do then it's bad for Clear.
-
-
-
-
ESPN3 is a great feature to have. I just switched over from AT&T and had no idea that Clear wouldn't have access to ESPN3. I think this is a very important feature to have.

I don't want Clear to raise rates at all.
See, from ESPN3's perspective, they have a great deal going. Rather than having to handle individual billing (like Netflix, for instance), they can simply charge ISPs one lump sum per month, regardless of how many of the ISPs customers actually tune in.
ESPN3 should open up to individual customers. You should be griping on their forums, not Clear's. -
-
WRONG.. this is not an issue of getting games on ESPN and ESPN2. I get DISH and get that along with ESPN3 and ESPN Classics. Some college football games are broadcast only on ESPN3. So let's see ESPN3 is avaialble though Comcast and Verizon both Clearn competitors in my area and not Clear. When my contract is up I'm leaving unless they subscribe to ESPN3.
-
-
-
-
-
When you consider Comcast, consider:
- To get the best rates, you will have to subscribe to their Digital Cable service.
- Comcast's customer service is universally reviled as being the worst of any company in any industry.
- Comcast uses it's customers' money to advocate for anti-consumer legislation in D.C. and state capitals.
- Consumerist.com (from Consumer Reports) named Comcast the 2010 Worst Company in America http://consumerist.com/2010/04/congra...
A quick Google search will bring up dozens of free, live feeds of the World Cup, some that cost a few bucks, some that are free, some that are legit, some that are not. -
-
Seriously. This one hurts. Not being able to see the World Cup while my buddies get round-the-clock access is demoralizing.
As for Comcast, everyone should HATE going to a standard telecom with their outdated business model (hidden fees, cheap intro rates, absent customer service) but if they've got the product you want there's really no arguing.
I'm seriously bummed about this one. Watching WC in a different language with the speakers turned down. :( -

they really should let us have espn3. if not i looking else where for my internet provider come august . hello football season.
-

I have always enjoyed espn3 even with it was espn360. I watched almost every game in the 2008 eufa cup. Not to mention college football season. Espn3.com is a must that I failed to check on before getting clear.
-
-
Just had an idea......Comcast mobile broadband as well as sprint are using the clear network correct?
If this is the case and I just got comcast mobile internet I would then be using clears network ultimately and get access to ESPN3.com.
Now why deny us actual clear customers the same things people ultimately using your towers are getting?
Correct me if I am wrong....because this was just a thought -
-
This would be great I still haven't let go of the AT&T's DSL because of this, but hey I have a dedicated dsl line for gaming for now if they don't do it. lol
-
-
Clear cannot even support downloading of online video rentals (netflix). At .25MBps, I couldn't use VOIP. How are they going to support streaming live events?
-
-
I understand that Clear is offering us low cost, high speed mobile internet and I think it's a great service. But this feature would really be a selling point for the service. I have requested that ESPN3.com open up its service to individual subscribers. I'll keep doing it. But I also want to say I would pay Clear extra if I could add this service on to my account, at least during college football season.

That is exactly right. Also, our subscription fee is not necessarily equal to the cost that the service provider incurs. We are paying a market-based price. For most other ISP's that market price also includes access to ESPN3. If Clear is truly a customer service oriented company, they will not try to pass on the incremental cost of ESPN3 to its customers.
As I am still within my trial period, I will likely cancel my Clear service and replace with cable internet if there is no indication that ESPN3 will be supported by Clear in the future. -

Isn't AT&T still offering 6mbps DSL no phone line for 45$/month and the account with espn3, how much of a difference would it be on Clear?

I have already informed Clear that if ESPN3 is not available by the start of college football season I will be cancelling my service with Clear.

Has no one here ever heard of or tried justin.tv, channelsurfing.net, or similar streaming websites? Whether at work or on the road, I didn't miss one single game of the World Cup thanks to these websites and my Clear USB. As a matter of fact, I hardly miss any major match for any sport thanks to the world wide web.
@MikeBrown: Back in April, before my DirecTV was installed, my wife and I were watching "Kitchen Nightmares" on HULU on our HTPC while one son was watching the Celtics/Heat NBA playoff game on a laptop, another was playing on an online game site called "Neopets" on his netbook, and the 3rd was chatting with friends on MySpace - and we only get 2 lights on our modem! Additionally, I have Vonage at home (my wife has family in Europe and she talks with them constantly) and I have never had a problem with call quality. Maybe there is something wrong with a piece of your equipment? You should check into that because if your getting that kind of bandwidth, you shouldn't have ANY problems with your phone service.-
I've tried alot of those but many didnt stream well because they were located outside of U.S. or insufficient bandwidth to provide decent quality of viewing. But looking at channelsurfing.net it looks pretty good, however I'd still rather see it on Espn3 because of the better quality they provide.

For the new kid on the block,
To partner with ESPN is a brilliant move. It's what the customers want and a buiilding block for the future. Building on this relationship shall reap dividends for years to come. This is a win-win for all parties involved,to build this type of relationship takes a visionary leader, leadership at the top. If leadership is wise, and I feel that they are, they will make this deal happen. (Close The Deal) One more tool in the tool box.
Be Blessed,-

lehmanjc,
We have experienced a tremendous amount of growth this year and with growth comes growing pains. We apologize for those who have to experience those pains.
Over the past few months we have been spending enormous amounts of time, energy and money on hiring new Care agents, building new site functionality, expanding tower coverage, increasing backhaul capabilities, etc. to be sure that we deliver on our promise to be "Clear" about everything we do and delver on our promise.
In the coming months you will see improvements in speed, better tools to find coverage(such as our new phone app released recently), account service changes to help better manage your account, more ways to interact with us online, etc.
Please keep giving us feedback on the service and any new ideas that can make it better. If you are having problems please contact us so that we can ensure that you get what you expect from the service..

RobL,
Glad to hear you're on it, but I called customer service today and they had no idea what I was talking about!
I hope you aren't the only guy on this. Look, Fall is upon us and with Fall comes football, both college and the NFL. ESPN3 provides live streaming video of both and we need this service right away.
Please don't make me switch to another provider.-
The floor reps will not know about anything we have planned until it is final.

Okay...I'm a clear user and for the past week or so, I've had access to ESPN3. As a matter of fact, as I type this email, I am streaming the Racing Santander Vs Barcelona soccer match. Could some other Clear user go out there and check if they have access so I know if this is legit or if I've just stumbled across some loophole?
Thanks. -
-
Jamesdittrich,
Thats odd. Where you asked to select your ISP from a drop down list? If not I'd check your connection to make sure that you're not accidently connected to a different network. i.e. your neighbors wifi,or the university wifi.
either way enjoy your espn3 -
-
nope...definitely connected to clear.
I used to always have the drop-down when I would periodically check. Just one day the drop-down was no longer there and it said that I had access. I have no clue how or why. I just thought clear finally came around. -
-
Dream On...Clear can barely upload a web page let alone streaming sports. Have you ever heard of Television?
-
-
That's odd because I don't Have any trouble with mlb.com
Guess it's you. -
-
@ Vague...No Mlb.com is a totally different website. You're wrong.
@Gary...Go check out ESPN3.com, and you'll see why I want access to it. And yes I do have a TV with over 200 channels through dish network. But again if you go look at what ESPN3 offers you'll see what I'm talking about. -
-
-
-
But... but the US Open is on... and... I don't subscribe to cable. CLEAR could save me!!!
-

starting to get really upset with Clear about the lack of progress on this issue

didn't you see the prior post? espn3 is now working for us open. i assume this is network wide--i am in seattle.

-
-
the prior post is saying that she DOESN'T get espn3.com with her Clear service and she is upset because the US Open tennis tournament is being covered by espn3 right now.
-
-
my bad. in any case i am getting it for the first time ever so perhaps this is in seattle only...testing?
-
-
are you really? Are you able to watch it now? It doesnt make sense for only the Seattle area to get it. Clear still doesnt show up in the drop down menu for espn3 service providers so I have a hard time believing you.
-
-
I'm not sure what the Seattle situation is but, based on Company Rep RobL's post from 5 days ago, I'd assume you're connected another way...
His post: "Based on your feedback here we have a meeting with ESPN3 in a few weeks to see if it will be possible to offer this. No timeframes are available but we are investigating the possibility."
Are you near a college/university? Or part of one? A lot of those are connected to ESPN3. Just a thought.
Otherwise, please watch the Roddick match tonight on my behalf. :-) -
-
-
-
i am watching the roddick match right now on espn3 and definitely on my clear modem. clear is based in seattle so a test here doesn't sound so far fetched.
that said, the feed quality is not the best. even though my current download speeds are faster than normal (3.4 mbps) the video freezes every few minutes but catches up pretty fast. audio is continuous, so it is like listening to a radio that works as a TV 90% of the time. -
-
I am in Chicago and have been getting ESPN3 for at least 4 days now. I wasn't going to say anything out of worry it was some mistake, but if other people are getting it, then good for us! Just in time for college football season.
Edit - I am confident that I am attached to my own clear internet connection. That was the first thing I checked as I live right next to a University. -
-
meanwhile we here in houston still don't get it, and the US OPEN is on!
-
-
-
I live in Chicago and still don't get ESPN3.
Also, the US Open can be streamed live on the US Open website. -
-
I really think you guys who are getting it are on a different network connection. My laptop often switches to the free wifi network provided by my apartment complex if my clear spot is turned off.
Are you confident that you're on the clear network or POSITIVE? Probably just confident.- view 1 more comment

I am able to access espn3 using my Clear home modem. It is wired directly into my computer, and my wireless capabilities are disabled. I can safely say that I am on the Clear network. However, I cannot access espn3 using my Clear mobile card. I am not sure about the difference between the two pieces of hardware, but it definitely works on my home modem.

ESPN3 works in Boise Idaho on home units and with clearspots. So it really is "under construction" if you're using a mobile USB call customer care and swap out for a spot, it's way cooler anyways.

I know that usopen.org is offering live streaming of the matches. However, it does not offer replays of the matches for those of us who work ;)
espn3 is on demand tv in a way, which makes it far more superior! -

Clear needs to come up with something. They are not giving me a lot of reasons to stay with them.
-
-
Clear, please start listening to your customers or we will go elsewhere.
-
-
Can't stream college football games, my bill keeps inching up, and my connection isn't always clear. I have talked to them several times, and I don't understand when I am working from home and I lose my internet connection for on apparent reason. I don't think Clear cares about their customers because their competitors are now offering more for less.
-
-
-

Right now... Suddenlink looks the best. I have heard good and bad things about them, but I like their bundles. Of course, AT&T looks alright, but I am not too excited about them. Even though, you can stream the ESPN channel through ESPN3.com with them. Clear just needs to get on the ESPN list or figure something else out.
-
-
ESPN doesn't list Clear as one of their approved service providers for accessing ESPN3. My service contract is up at the end of the month, and as an avid football fan, access to ESPN 3 is drastically going to affect whether I stay with Clear or not and which service provider I choose.

No promises guy's but I watched the Oregon vs Tenn. Game on saturday on it. Worked great and I wasn't even logged in and I found this today. Went back and it allowed me to create an account and I am watching the replay of USA and turkey basketball right now. The last time I tried to register it said my provider was not in the list or something close. Give it a shot couldn't hurt trying. In eugene oregon here.

-
I have absolutely no interest in espn3.com and don't want my rates with Clear to go up so people can access some website that charges the ISP instead of only the users that actually use it.
-
The cost of Clear is likely to go UP if ESPN isn't provided. People (like those with XBOX live that offers ESPN3 will be leaving Clear in favor of other providers. People leaving Clear will cause an increase in cost per user because there will be fewer users.
Also, the bandwidth overhead 'cost' or drag of streaming live shouldn't be anywhere near as high as streaming custom content as the live stream only needs to be broadcast once to all those linked in if the technology is done correctly. Having many users logged into a single signal path (instead of many users on many custom streams) would reduce, not increase, bandwidth usage and increase bandwidth available to others. -
-
I think you vastly overestimate the number of people who would use ESPN3, much less switch over it.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
Clear doesn't care what is best for their customers. I have been without my clear home internet all night but my mobile works. Doesn't make since. Does clear care...nope. I would love ESPN3 on clear but God knows if we want it they won't do it.
-
-
This is IMPOSSIBLE to implement because of the TOS, AUP, and 8GB per month data usage cap.
So it's under consideration? There are like a dozen other things that would have to change for this to be realized.
Stop jerking our chain.

Where are you at? I pull in between 3-6 mbps and do a lot of downloads. I've definitely passed the 1gb in a day, The fastest speed Ive gotten is 13mbps and within the past 6 months I haven't ever pulled in less than 2mbps. Maybe that because Boise is a smaller market. Aprox 40k users off of 80 or so towers.

How long have you been a subscriber?
What modem do you have?
If you are an older subscriber, they may not have updated your firmware to report data usage back to NMS, so they can throttle you.

Caution, you will then overuse your data limit and be tagged as a bad person. When that happens you get a .25 Mbps data rate for????? 3 days plus for me.
-
-
You are capped until the end of your billing cycle. Mine starts on the 22nd... so I can get 8GB and then I get capped to .25 Mbps
Clear's view of UNLIMITED is 8GB at unlimited speed, then unlimited data at .25 speed.-
Really. You are the first person I have seen that has a difinite date attached to my punishment. Thanks....

I am considering switching ISPs if Clear does not get ESPN3 soon.I watch ESPN3 at least once a month. I watch many small schools games on ESPN3 as well as European soccer. Considering all the high speed internet options in chicago that do carry ESPN3 content for around the same price as Clear, I do not think it is worth keeping the service without it.
-
-
are you guys at Clear freaking nuts? you throttle us for downloading TV and you are thinking about selling the idea of sportsd which is HUGE in HD for multihour games. DO you have ANY idea how much bandwidth a sports junkie would swallow up?!?!?
-
-
My question is why was ESPN3 featured in Clear's retail store (Houston - Rice Village), leading me to believe that this service would be available to me at home? How can the Clear store have ESPN3 when I don't?
-
-
there should be no question in the matter..... if Clear is going to provide service in Abilene area....or anywhere else for that matter.... than give us some streaming tv on our local events..... espn3 would just be a start/ bring us streaming tv as ANY ISP should!!!!!
-
IF THERE IS A WEBSITE TO LOG ONTO, CLEAR SHOULD DISPLAY!!!!!
-
-
espn3 would be nice, but keep in mind that with Clear's current policy, even if you had espn you wouldn't be able to watch more then one full game without getting branded a high bandwidth user. currently high bandwidth users are punished with days of beeing capped to speeds just above dialup. not much fun to watch a game that is dripping down to you and pauses every second or two to buffer a dribble more.

I have no problem streaming with Clear either on netflix or youtube. Is the bandwidth cap related to low-tier price point? I have phone and decent internet speed package.
If you want to watch ESPN, get satellite or cable. If you're wasting bandwidth to stream non-on-demand offerings, then you should have a cap.
WTF do you people do-spend your whole days in front of a computer? How about going out to a game?
CLEAR REPS: Do me a favor: don't offer ANY TV product available elsewhere. Stick to phone and internet.-

ESPN3 is not free. ISPs pay ESPN to access ESPN3, then those ISPs helpfully pass on those costs to you, the consumer. This is a bad thing when you're one of those consumers who would be paying more for a service they would never use.

um first of all, gaming is out of the question because of all the lag and high ping that clear has, I dont have an xbox or ps3 or anything so thats cant be the problem. I dont watch any movies or tv, i download music sometimes but not that much, and I watch videos on youtube occasionally. I called clear the other day and they consider all of that to be "alot of usage" which is ridiculous. If u cant do any of that without being capped then u might as well have dial-up.
-
There's something missing here. I'm in Philly, and maybe the fact that this is Comcastland (part investor of Clear) it may be helpful to keeping a decent data flow going. Did they document the usage? Do you have a Wifi adapter that may be open-allowing people to jump on and crank up your numbers? You should get this on paper-what your doing 'wrong'. If you say you're not doing that much on line, then it's out of wack.
I am always looking for a service to sh!t the bed when I sign up for a new product. My concern was a bunch of new customers sucking up the bandwidth. They are really pushing for new tower space here and are behind schedule. Maybe the gear @ the tower you use is not up to date, what connects to it is old, etc prone to fail.
For those reasons, I kept Comcast ('net only) as a backup. wireless is nice, but wire is better.
What are you paying per month? -

Xbox360 just updated the Dashboard and included an ESPN3 service, as I'm sure many have noticed. I'm a happy Clear customer, but I'm certainly going to consider going somewhere else if services offered on my internet devices are not supported by Clear. I can't afford Cable and an ISP, so it's gotta be an ISP. I just would rather keep my Clear account and watch the occasional game rather than switch. But I will switch if I have to.

Ha ha ha ha ha.... Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!
At 0.50 Mbps??? Good luck with that one! -
-
-
-
Sounds great! Lets just pray that the signal holds up long enough.
-
-
I am on the fence about keeping my Clear service. This is not helping. Has Clear made any progress with ESPN???
-
-
Clear should focus all of their efforts on providing reliable internet service. Then (and ONLY THEN) should they look at adding access to a video streaming service.
-
I agree. wake up out there. not being able to stream ESPN is probably the only reason you have not been throttled. ESPN would be smart not to have their good name smeared by association with an unrelaible partner.

What a joke! LOL
Clear at-home WiMAX users are now up in arms over apparent throttling on certain accounts. As the story goes, it seems as if the company is pulling back on upload and download speeds (from 10Mbps to around 0.25Mbps) for users who have consumed between 7GB and 10GB in a month, which is comically low even compared to Comcast's hated 250GB / month usage cap. Forum users are finding customer service lines to be no help whatsoever, and some digging has found that this may all be a part of a network traffic administration program that's ongoing within Clearwire.-

i dunno guys....... watching live coverage over my .77 Mb/s DL clear connection might ruin any sport coverage. just like it ruined my online gaming and pr0n watching
-
-
-
-
I completely agree with this idea. Especially when the world cup was going on it made it impossible to watch any of the games. Very disappointing.
-
-
and just wait when they here my recordings on Clear lying and trying to say i get 4 g new tower in your area and the scams like that they have done to me. hours of recorded conversations with countless holding times with reps overriding managers and complete special surprise
-
-
did you ever think maybe ESPN and others do NOT want to be partners with a piss poor company like Clear.
-
-
Ha Ha Ha! Ever try to stream anything through CLEAR? You'll get about half of the game then .....buffering.......
Good luck with this one. -

Sounds great... so long as the traffic is marked DO NOT TOUCH by the NIMS.
Otherwise all of your streaming media that you paid Clear to carry for you will result in your service being throttled by NIMS. -
-
NO NO NO, the worst idea ever, Clear can't even deliver the internet, what makes you think they could stream HD LIVE SPORTS?!? your out of your mind.
-
-
Ha, Ha, Ha! Funny, but oh so true. Perhaps, in the future, in a land far, far away...
-
-
Real Funny, Clear wont even support Netflex. In fact I have to use my 3G card to connect to the internet right now because they say I have used to much bandwith using Netflex. I only have 10 days to go before AT&T bail me out. Then I am sending this modem back. I would recommend to everyone to do the same.
-
-
Unlimited plans are subject to certain limitations described in CLEAR’s Acceptable Use Policy. I always make sure to read the terms before i decide to go with a service.
-
-
I totally agree Clear needs to become an ESPN affiliate -- ASAP.
I'd like to be able to use my Xbox Live subsciption to watch ESPN sports, especially the Tennis Opens. While some may be concerned an arrangement with ESPN will cause an increase in cost/per client, it's likely to bring in more clients to cover any additional cost.
Plus, lack of being an ESPN affiliate is likely to cause Clear to lose customers to internet providers that are ESPN affiliates. For example, there's lots of XBOX 360 users with XBOX Live memberships. XBOX Live offers ESPN. When these folks find out there no ESPN sports on XBOX live because they are using Clear, rather than give up XBOX Live (which is a necessity for the full gaming console experience), they'll give up on Clear.
Get a clue Clear -- this isn't something you need to study. It's something you need to act on ASAP.-
"...lack of being an ESPN affiliate is likely to cause Clear to lose customers to internet providers that are ESPN affiliates."
Good riddance, better service for the rest of us. -

I agree with everyone. Partnering for special services just raises the costs for everyone. We only have to look at some major cable and sat companies and see that each person pays more, even though they may not use the service.
I like the idea of just paying for an internet provider and nothing extra. -
-
Won't happen anyway. Streaming video? Then clear would have to actually honor their "unlimited" usage without a cap sales pitch they use to lure in new customers.
-
-
If possible I would love have espn3, I had it before join clearwire, so please consider It
-
-
If I do not get espn3 I would consider a new provider in the near future
-
Then go to a new service provider its never gonna happen, Like I've said, Clear can't even deliver the internet at decent speeds, What make you think they could deliver High Quality Live sports?
-
-
-
-
-
I just signed up and am satisfied with my speeds but not with the fact that I'm blocked from streaming espn3 because Clear is not an "affliate provider." Discouraging that nothing seems to have happend on this idea in 8 months. Please become one! Without access to espn3, I will not stay signed up to Clear.
-
-
There is no reason that Clear should not become an affiliate provider of espn3.
I spoke with the owner of an internet company that, unfortunately doesn't service my immediate area, and he said that it only costs him about 11 cents per customer to be an affiliate provider, and no, he doesn't pass the cost on to his customers. Even if he did, what's 11 cents?-
Nice research jbhyde70. Come on Clear - I know you guys are pressed for $ but this is a Gotta Have for those of us interested in "cutting the wire" AND interested in sports. Please...

i like the idea. other internet providers are doing this. i don't like the fact of others being able to access something and i can't. just because you are not a "sports person" you want to be selfish and restrain others from enjoying the services that they use their hard-earned dollar on. that's what's wrong with this country. people making decisions that have nothing to do with them and will not affect them. just wanting something to b***h about to get in the spotlight.
-
-
Here's my 2 cents - Comcast has espn3.com and that's because they own them.
-
I would not have changed my service to Clear had I known there was no available access to ESPN. It was a nasty surprise!

@lcj,
Having a little trouble figuring out the posting process?
You may have a good point, but I was trying to help @RV to channel his "sports oriented" world view into something more constructive. I didn't really think suggesting Habitat for Humanity or recording books for the blind was going to fly. There is nothing wrong with playing sports, I just don't get the point of sitting on the couch watching other people get fresh air and exercise when you could be doing it yourself. In any case, Clear is an ISP, not a content provider, so the whole topic is pretty silly. -
-
Well, thanks for the humor/clarity Queen Latifah. I think most of the concerns on this ESPN Clear partnership on these postings are made, by those in favor of making sports available. Other Internet Service Providers allow streaming ESPN, therefore, it is something that is desired, expected and NOT impossible for Clear to do.
-
-
-
-
I don't like it. I don't care about sports, nor streaming sports. I don't want my rates to go up, so other people can stream sports and put MORE of a strain on an already strained and "throttled" bandwidth amount.
-
-
-
-
They are owned by both cable giants, and the service is not offered? That sucks! This is just another way for them to raise rates, and try to justify it.Read between the lines people.
-
-
CLEAR is NOT a cable provider. They are a sub-par broadband provider. I signed on with them because of the promised capability to get streaming movies through netflix and other providers. I never could get a movie to play and never will now that the cap is set so low for usage. I also couldn't play an online game through XBOX Live without stuttering. I just moved to a location that has wired internet available so I could kick these guys to the curb.
-
-
-
Did you mean, "CLEAR is NOT a cable provider" ?, "I vote no" ?, or possibly my favorite, "I don't like it. I don't care about sports, nor streaming sports. I don't want my rates to go up, so other people can stream sports and put MORE of a strain on an already strained and "throttled" bandwidth amount." ?
You may wish to amend your post to say, simply, "I think not." -

I am also very dissatisfied! I chose clear because they didn't have monthly contracts. I could be paying less with another provider and receive more reliable bandwidth, and obviously have the ability to watch sports online through my xbox or laptop. seriously considering switching. I even asked the salesman if i was going to be able to access espn3 and he told me I could, What a let down!!!
CLEAR you need to fix this soon its only going to deter you from getting more customers. -
-
Clear- Your prices are fractions lower than most servicers that you are trying to compete with. These people bickering about prices staying low are just as stupid as the customer service reps that gave me the same excuse for why you don't have this set up. I know for a fact that your market share is rising steadily, and over time..just like every other business in history that has tried to compete solely on lowest price.. you will get beat out. Find a way to diversify your products more, and give your customers what they want, or i will pay more to get treated like $%!& at comcast, pay more, but get what i want! This should have been done in June before the World Cup. MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!
-
-
Basically, if this doesn't happen, I'll be gone shortly. Other ISPs with a similar (un)reliability are available in my area with access to ESPN3. They weren't when I signed up - but they are now. Clear is an okay provider, but it's speeds are NEVER in the ballpark of what is advertised. I get about 2 Mbps on a good day, 1.5 on average.
The funny part is, the other ISPs are cheaper. Clear, you don't even compete on price anymore.
I might already be gone, but I can't cancel until the end of the weekend. I can't even find out what my ETF is. Say what you will about other ISPs customer service, but at least it's available on Saturday.
Lame. With AT&T and Verizon rolling out LTE 4G, the footsteps of doom are sounding. -
-
i came on here to suggest this but behold others are thinking the same thing.
i wrote them and this is what they sent back.
"Hello,
Thank you for your interest in ESPN3.com.
Your internet service provider can pursue an agreement with ESPN. Please contact your provider to let them know you'd like to receive the ESPN3.com service.
For live assistance with this or any other issue, please call Customer Care at 1-888-549-3776 (ESPN) between 8 am and 1 am EST.

ESPN Viewer Response"
thats all you have to do to get this going, come on make this happen so i can get my sports.
-thank you- -
-
I too am frustrated that there is no espn3 and would leave clear if it does not happen soon.
-
-
I agree! I cancelled my Comcast internet and now I can't stream ESPN3, which really sucks.

Why would Clear set up a partnership with anybody with the intention of streaming? If you stream, they will throttle you, this is considered Excessive Use by Clear and warrants speed capping according to their terms and conditions.
Clear is terrible, I recommend going with ANY other high speed ISP, or dial-up, either way I guarantee better results! -
-
hi my name is tony
xbox live has a espn3 app but you have to have the right isp does anyone know if clear will support this

Hate to bust your bubble.
The way CLEAR is working, they'll be bankrupt before the end-of-the-year. -

I know it's already been asked...but is anyone else out there also hoping clear partners with ESPN 3?? It feels like everyone is except for clear.

This should be a service that Clear should provide. I will get ESPN3 even if that means changing companies

It should be a "work in progress" at this point! WORLD CUP STARTS TOMORROW MORNING!!!!
This needs to happen NOW. Seriously, this is a HUGE BENEFIT TO THE CUSTOMERS.
Raise my rate $2 a month to offer this - I don't care. This combined with Netflix means everyone can cancel their Dish and Cable.
GET ON THIS CLEAR!!!!!
Look at some of the ISP who have signed up.

SEE THE WORD OCCASIONAL?
OCCASIONAL STREAMING?
SO what does that mean CLEAR?
http://forums.clear.com/clearcom/topi...
So this will NEVER HAPPEN.
Anyway, I've hounded customer service, tech support and even the sales department. I've been told they are in negotiations with Disney (the owner of ESPN), to become an affiliate. There was another "Official Rep" on this formum by the name of RobL, who said the same thing.
So of course we won't know how it pans out for a little while, I'm confident the change will happen soon.
